My Nan was a warm and loving person with an infectious smile. She dedicated alot of her time to the Royal British Legion in Orpington. She received a 20 yrs service award in the late 1990's and she continued her work with them until mid 2007.
Nan was diagnosed with cancer in abt 2004 but fought it and was in remission by 2005.
In July 2006, four months before she was diagnosed with terminal cancer, she witnessed the last of her four children to get married, marry after a massive 30yr engagement!
The doctors told her she only had months rather than years to live in November 2006. Even though this was a devastating diagnosis, Nan was determined to fight it! She had lots of chemotherapy and lost all her lovely white hair.
Several months later, the diagnosis was that the lumps had shrunk and she could give chemo a rest for a while. When they decided that Nan could start chemo again, it was too late - it made her so ill that she didn't want to continue the treatment.
She still fought towards the end, despite suffering from a heart attack in late October 2007, and managed to see through Christmas and New Year.
My Nan has 4 children, 9 Grandchildren, 14 Great-grandchildren, 4 Step-children and 4 Step-grandchildren, who all miss her dearly.

I constantly miss my weekend visits especially as I now live just down the road from where she lived. I also miss our chats...I used to call to catch up on the latest gossip or to find out how to boil an egg or to simply find out how she was.
Christmas this year will be especially painful as my Nan spent every Christmas with myself and and my Mum and Dad and this will be our first without her!

Yet another Christmas without you Mum
The pain does not ease, I still feel numb
I wish I could have you here once again
This time to always remain.

If I could have one wish that's true
I wouldn't want anything of wealth
I would only want you
Here by our sides always in good health.

Never to part always to remain
once more with us all
we would all be free from pain
no more tears would fall.

Have a Good Christmas in Heaven Mum

MY MUM

In my arms I held you tight
Through the hardest part of life
In my heart the memories clear
Of the greatest mum I love so dear
I held you so close to my heart
Praying that we'll never part
But angels came and took you away
And a tear I shed for your everyday
Now the brightest shining star
My mum will watch from up far
In all the pain I'm going through
I hear her say I'm here with you
So Mum for all my life you have kept me strong
helped you cope with every storm
I thankyou from the depths of my heart
I love you so very much
I miss your voice, your touch
but everyday I feel your love
There will never be a day goes by
when we don't all think of you
with sorrow and pain,
but also with a happiness that will remain
for you Mum our sunshine after the rain.
So Proud of you Mum
